Taking xanax during pregnancy

07/20/2009

Question:

what can happen if you are taking xanex during pregnancy?

Answer:

Xanax is classified as a class D drug which means, in general, it should be avoided in pregnancy.  The concern is that there has been a slight increase in birth defects in pregnant women who have taken this medication especially in the early part of pregnancy.
