Red-Purplish Bump on Left Side of Tongue
I have a dark red/purple bump (looks like a blood clot)on the left side of my tongue that I believe happened after accidentally biting or pinching that side of my tongue while eating. It seems to be getting a little bigger each day, maybe due to the fact that while sleeping that part of my tongue is supressed against my teeth. It seems to be taking a long time to heal. Today it is really bothersome to talk. Should I be concerned? Is there anything that I can do to help assist the healing process?
You can rub any over-the-counter oral ointment (Orabase, etc.) on it several times a day to lubricate it. If it does not resolve (heal) in two weeks, see your local dentist.
