How long does it take the sclera to thin out?

10/08/2009

Question:

If you have scleritis and uveitis, how long does it take the sclera to thin out to the point a sclera patch is needed?

Answer:

It's impossible to even guess how long scleral thinning would take, because doctors treat scleritis and uveitis aggressively in an attempt to prevent that serious complication.

Ask your eye doctor what caused the scleritis/uveitis; and if he/she is already treating aggressively, ask what is the chance of needing a scleral patch sometime in the future.
