Myasthenia Gravis

Muscle cramps

08/14/2009

Question:

Are muscle cramps of the hands and feet associated with myasthenia? My husband was diagnosed about 5 years ago and is controlled on cellcept at this time. He had a thymectomy about 3years ago and does well except for muscle cramps esp. of the hands occasionally.

Answer:

Muscle cramps are not part of MG, per se. You can get cramps from treatments (e.g. mestinon) or poor control (weak muscles and unsupported joints can ache). Hope this helps.
