Hyperkeratosis with Mild Dysplasia08/27/2009 |
My mother has been diagnosed with the above problem. She is an eater of Pan and is now trying to stop. Please xplain the above and is this cancerous.
Pan contains betel nuts and occasionally also tobacco, both of which can cause precancerous or cancerous lesions. Dysplasia is a form of precancer, although mild dysplasia would have less of a chance of becoming cancer someday (compared to moderate or severe dysplasia). This condition is best followed and managed by an ear, nose, throat (ENT) physician or oral surgeon.
