Sudden Onset of Severe Acid Reflux11/17/2009 |
Howdy!Say, I began to develop acid reflux symptoms this last winter. I changed my diet and elevated my sleeping posture. That seemed to work for awhile.
But starting about 4 months ago I began to have quite severe acid reflux EVERY morning. I finally began taking enzymes and that, along with an elevated posture seems to work. But something tells me that there`s something wrong. If I fail to take the enzymes (3-4 capsules at night) I`m guaranteed to have an attack by morning. Why the sudden onset, and why so severe? This has never been a problem before.
I`ve also began to gain weight. I`ve been quite thin all my life, but now I`ve actually developed a `gut`. My usual weight varies from around 135 - 138. I now weigh 155. This happened quite suddenly.
Thanks.
I would recommend you see your primary care provider regarding your new symptoms to further discuss them. The additional information they will need will be the name of the "enzymes", if you've tried an acid reducing medication, and what other medications you're taking. Sometimes acid reflux is worsened by different foods, weight gain etc.
