Seniors and H1N1 flu shot09/24/2009 |
Regarding who gets this shot, the only thing I`ve read is persons 1-49. Are seniors at the `end of the line` or do we need one at all? Thank you.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that seniors get H1N1 flu shots. The CDC website (http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/acip.htm) says at the end that "Current studies indicate that the risk for infection among persons age 65 or older is less than the risk for younger age groups. However, once vaccine demand among younger age groups has been met, programs and providers should offer vaccination to people 65 or older."
