Kidney Failure and Shivers

10/06/2009

Question:

Is cold shivers up and down your back a sign of kidney failure? My father has 25% of kidney function left and is not on dialysis. He has these shivers everyday since the doctors removed his left kidney several months ago.

Answer:

People with kidney failure are less tolerant of the cold, so they could "shiver" when they get a chill.
