Milk

10/05/2009

Question:

does milk and milk products cause dirra

Answer:

Milk and milk products with lactose in them may cause diarrhea in people who are lactose intolerant (lack or are low in the enzyme lactase that digests the milk carbohydrate lactose). Any food, including milk and milk products may cause diarrhea in individuals who have untreated gluten intolerance. When a person is gluten intolerant and continues to eat wheat and other products with gluten in them, the villi/brush border in the small intestine virtually disappear or become almost flattened. This reduces the surface area for the absorption of food/nutrients from the intestine. Diarrhea can be the result. Some medications can also give you diarrhea. The condition may be intensified with milk or milk products. Intestinal disease such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome may also cause diarrhea. Milk and milk products may or may not be a factor. Check with your health care provider to rule out the above circumstances.
