Oxygen by Nasal Cannula10/07/2009 |
My husband has IPF and is on 6 lpm oxygen. What is the highest lpm that your body can utilize with a nasal cannula and what are the options when this is no longer enough?
The maximum oxygen that can run through a nasal cannula is usually about 6 liters. There are some high flow nasal cannulas available that your oxygen company can provide that can go a bit higher. However, over 6 liters, we usually change to a face mask that can go to higher flows of oxygen.
