Vaginal Sling and Sutures
12/02/2009 |
Question:
I had a pubovaginal sling done 6 weeks ago with great success. I went for my postop visit and the sutures in the vagina are still there after 6 weeks. They are the kind that go away on their own. I have to go back in 4 weeks to see if they are gone and have been told to continue pelvic rest until then. Is it common for them not to be gone by 6 weeks? Just was very surprised that they were still there. Thanks.
Answer:
There are several absorbable sutures in the market. Some dissolve within few days and some within weeks. I would not be too concerned about this as long as the outcome is positive.
