I have been admitted 2 days ago for left renal colic. Urine analysis showed more than 100 rbc/hpf. Blood creatinine result was 179 and increasing. Treatment followed by pain reliever and JJ stent. It helped me relieved the pain. Can JJ stent removal allows my ureter to function normally? Can it damage my ureter/kidney? What is bilateral parenchymal disease?
Probably your BUN was 179 not creatinine. Double J stents are placed to relieve ureteral obstruction from stones, scarring, tumor, etc. Stents do not damage the ureters or kidneys and can eventually be removed when the problem is taken care of. Parenchymal disease refers to a primary kidney disease, not obstruction although the kidneys can be damaged as a result of long term obstruction.
