Pain on the right side of throat12/10/2009 |
Hello,About a month ago I started getting pain on the right side of my throat below my jaw. It went away after about 5 days and recently came back. Now, in addition to the pain I feel when I swallow, I`ve noticed that my neck hurts when I move it, as if I slept funny. I feel this sensation in the same location. My neck is also slightly swollen on the right side. What`s going on?
One sided swelling in the neck below the jaw that is painful and comes and goes is likely a salivary gland. These glands can get blocked by stones (like kidney stones) that will then cause swelling and pain. A thorough history and physical from an ENT should get at the bottom of your problem.
