Is Parkinson’s disease heredity? My husband has hand tremors as his mother has Parkinson’s disease.
The cause of Parkinson's disease is not known, but there is suspicion for both environmental and genetic factors that may increase risk of developing the disease.
The majority of people with Parkinson's disease have no family history of anyone else with the disease. Several genes have been identified associated with Parkinson's disease, but these are not present in the majority of people even with positive family history of the disease.
