As a child, my skin would turn slightly red when the weather was cold, but now, as an adult, my face turns really red when the weather is either hot or cold. This is extremely embarassing when people stare at me or approach me, and wonder why my face gets as red as a cherry tomato. Why does my face get so red when I am exposed to heat or cold? Also, why did my skin get sensitive to temperature over the years?
This phenomenon of turning red with extremes of temperature also called flushing can be a normal variant. Sometimes, it accompanies a skin condition called rosacea. If you want to verify if there is an underlying skin condition that can be potentially treated, you may visit your dermatologist.
