Face and Jaw Surgery |

My husband had and extraction done and he has pain at the join in his jaws. It has been 3 weeks since he had his extraction. He went back to the dentist and he was told that the anesthesia went into his muscles and it may take 2-3 months for the pain to be gone. Is that true? Can he take something for the pain?
I am assuming he had a tooth in the lower jaw removed. If he also has limitation of mouth opening along with pain, it is possible that one of the muscles that is attached to the lower jaw is in a spasm from having the injection. This can take several weeks to recover. Taking a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and muscle relaxants might help with the recovery and pain. Heat application and stretching exercises through physical therapy will also help.
