Stomach Pains

12/22/2009

Question:

I have pain around my navel that goes to my ledt side at my waist and then goes down my left side just above my groin. I had diarrhea for over a month before this. What could be causing the pain in my stomach in that area?

Answer:

Your pain could be due to a number of things, none of which can easily be determined without an examination. The fact that you have had diarrhea for a month is not normal, so that in itself should warrant you seeking care from a physician. Your pain could be due to gas pains, inflammation within your colon (colitis), infection in your colon, or diverticulitis. You really should be seen if this has been going on for so long.
