How Many Supplements Are Too Much?

01/20/2010

Question:

My husband is an ER doctor and takes between 125-150 vitamins and supplements per day which I personally think is excessive. He has been doing it for 10+ years. Is it possible for the body to absorb the benefits of ALL these supplements in one day or does some go to waste? Given that he`s an ER doctor, he certainly believes his regimin is not harmful or wasteful. I would like the advice of another medical professional. Is he taking too many supplements?

Answer:

Sorry, but there is no way to know without examining him and his lab tests.
