Gynecology

My first time

01/20/2010

Question:

I am 18 years old and had sex for the first time yesterday, and I am still bleeding. Also, there is some sort of tissue emerging from my vagina that was not there before. I`m really scared.

Answer:

You could have had some tearing of the skin around the opening of the vagina. The opening can be smaller than the penis and will tear to accommodate the penis. This is normal and occurs to many women the first time they are sexually active. If you are still bleeding or have a bit of the tissue hanging out of the vagina, you should have it checked to make sure you don't need some type of repair.
