Knee and foot pain and swelling of legs

02/02/2010

Question:

I have plantar fasciatis and now my knees hurt and I can barely walk, I am sure arthritis as years ago I was told I had the starting of it. My legs have been swelling from the knees down and my shin area is stained – always reddish orange. Sometimes they hurt also. I went to a vein dr. and a kidney dr. who both could not find a problem. So my quesition is could the pain an swelling in my knees be causing my legs and ankles to swell also or is there another type of dr. I should be seeing?

Answer:

It is possible that you do have arthritis and a rheumatologist could certainly make that assessment. In addition, a vascular surgeon would be a good choice to evaluate the cause of the swelling in your legs.
