Post-Crown and Braces01/28/2010 |
One of my front tooth, has a crown that holds on the metal (gold) post. It was done around 10 years ago. I have just put braces on and before doing so, I did raise a concern whether or not this tooth will survive braises.I was worrying that the pressure can maybe cause the breakage of the root, but there were no major concerns from my dentist or orthodontist at that time. I have braces now for a few days and I still wonder if they can impact this tooth. I worry that maybe the cement/glue washed out of it over the years and the post under the presurre of the braces may act like a wedge and brake the root which in that case would lead to the implant. Is it safe to put braces on the tooth that had post-crown?
