There are several reasons for baldness. The most common reason is genetic. Sometimes this can be counteracted by cosmetic procedures that dermatologist specializes in performing. There are also hormonal causes, which need to be evaluated by your provider.

In general, avoiding hairstyles that cause the hair to be pulled back and tightly braided should be avoided, as should treatments that may damage the hair follicles like ironing, perming, coloring or frequent use of hot air dryers. The key is finding the cause of the hair loss, which needs to be done with your provider. All the best!
