Back Pain

Question:

I`v been having serverback pain, buttoch pain, leg, ankle and toe pain for 4 weeks. My doctor took a MRI and here is the impression:

“Degenerative disc disease and facet arthropathy at L3/4 through L5/s1. Large left paracentral-lateral recess disc extrusion with sequestered disc fragment in the left lateral recess as described.  There is impingement of the left s1 nerve root.”

I go see a surg-specialist Tuesday. I`m constantly in pain my left ankle is overwhelmed with pain. The sequestered disc fragment is 1.3×0.9×1.0 cm. Could you lell me do you think I need surgry? Pain is real bad sometimes can`t sleep, walk along way or anything. Just scared! What is your imput? Thanks
