03/18/2010

Question:

In what part of the body are antithyroid drugs metabolized?

Answer:

The two most common drugs used to treat hyperthyroidism are methimazole (Tapazole) and propylthiouracil (also known as PTU). Both of these drugs are metabolized in the liver. If you are inquiring about another medication, please be more specific.
