Tuberculosis treatment

04/21/2010

Question:

I`m taking treatment of ATT since last 2 months. As per my doctor my recovery rate is slow but much better clinically. What does it mean? I`m taking the combination of 4-coktail of medicine every day in the morning in empty stomach.

Answer:

Tuberculosis infection is caused by a bacteria called mycobacterium tuberculosis. this bacteria grows slowly in the laboratory and develops slowly in your body. Illness develops over the course of months. Just as it takes months to develop it also takes months to improve. What you have been told by your doctor is correct. The medications take time to work and you will improve provided you take your medication strictly as it is prescribed and do not miss any doses.
