I wonder why Azithromycine capsule needs to be taken on empty stomach while the tablet form can be taken with food (instruction from the package insert of Zithromax Pfizer)

Azithromycin (zithromax ®) is commercially available for oral use as film-coated tablets, powder for oral suspension, and extended-release microspheres for oral suspension. Any of these forms can be taken with or without food. Taking the product with food may increase the tolerability of the medication. The capsule is no longer commercially available in the United States.
