Effect of Hormone Therapy on Breast Lumps10/07/2010 |
Can hormone theropy (estradiol and medroxyprogesterone) cause or contribute to a lump in the breast that was not cancerous before taking the hormones?
Yes, just like changes that occur in the breasts with your menstrual cycles, estrogens that are given as a medication can cause breast swelling and cysts. All lumps that are changing should be checked by your doctor, even if they were not cancerous earlier.
