Pap Test08/23/2010 |
I am 36 years old and never had a pap test in my life. I have never had sex. My doctor told me that I have no risk of cervical cancer because of my history. What other uses are there for the pap test? Should I start getting one any way at a certian age like 40?
Intimate contact can result in HPV transmission. HPV or human papillomavirus causes genital warts and cervical precancer and cancer. You don't have to have vaginal intercourse to be exposed to HPV. Depends on your history. The pap is not a good screen for anything else.
