Numbness of Tongue/Lip

08/02/2010

Question:

I have been having numbness on the left side of my tongue and lower lip. It`s been for 3 weeks and no reason like dental work being done

Answer:

Most of my experiences with lingual and lip parathesia/anesthesia are related to some form of either trauma (post surgical manipulation or technical anesthesia complication related to mask or tube placement, or complications associated with local anesthetic blocks). I also have seen unilateral sensation problems related to viral infections.
I would strongly suggest that you see your primary care provider and have them evaluate this condition as soon as possible.
I can not make an educated diagnosis without seeing you and evaluating the situation and performing some diagnostic tests. I hope this helps.
