Eye and Vision Care

Flashing Lights in Eyes

Once every few months, lasting for about 15 minutes, my vision is partially blocked by flashing lights. They`re in the upper left quarter of my field of vision, in an arc along the edge. They resemble oscillating lights like the old time theater marquees had. It`s generally similar to the effects of a flashbulb going off in my face.

Separately, I have floaters. And, my left eye ball, not eyelid, occasionally twitches.

I am 58. Thanks!

This could be an ocular migraine, a retinal tear, or a vitreous hemorrhage.

Since I obviously cannot diagnose this symptom without examining you, I recommend you see your eye doctor. Your eye doctor will be able to provide a definite diagnosis and treatment plan for both your "flashing lights" and "left eyeball twitch".
