Timing of Medication in PD
If symptoms of PD are not interfering with wuality of life, is is safe or wise to delay medications?
It is quite common that Parkinsonian medication treatment is delayed until symptoms of slowness, rigidity, or tremor are interfering with quality of life. However, it has been seen that delay in treatment and development of weakness or other problems due to decreased use of a limb may not be reversible. The start of an exercise program early may be very beneficial to lessening some of these problems, and is being found to be helpful throughout the course of the disease with or without medications.
