Small Wee Hole

01/12/2011

Question:

My son (2 yrs) was born with an odd foreskin, not complete. He has not been circumsised. Now we are up to toilet training we have noticed he wees straight up, even when we try to bend his penis down. My husband noticed his wee hole looks really small in comparison to his twin, fraternal, and his other brothers, you can`t open it at all. What could this be?

Answer:

It sounds like he has meatal stenosis, in which the opening at the tip of the penis narrows, causing a thin stream, a deflected stream, UTI, painful urination, or frequency. This condition usually is seen in boys who underwent newborn circumcision, so your son’s situation is unusual. He may have a developmental problem relating to his “odd foreskin”. I would have him seen by a pediatric urologist.
