Can a Person Live Without a Ventilator?12/30/2010 |
My husband has pulmonary fibrosis. His right lung is gone. He has the size of a large baseball left in the left lung. Can he at some point come off the ventilator? He is at this time in a drug induced coma.
There are many factors that determine if a person who has pulmonary fibrosis and is on a ventilator can breathe on their own. The answer to your question depends on information about your husband's individual health situation. I would suggest that you discuss this with your health care provider to help answer this question for you.
