Pharmacy and Medications
Should Certain Medications Be Taken Together?
Should 2 mg xanax. 10 mg methadone. 30 mg adderrol cymbalta and 10 mg lortab be taken with each other?
This is a potentially dangerous combination of drugs that should only be taken under the direction and supervision of a prescriber. If taken correctly, this medication regimen is reasonable.Methadone is a long-acting pain medication that can be taken at regular intervals to prevent pain. The hydrocodone/acetaminophen combination (Lortab), can be taken as needed for breakthrough pain (temporary pain that is not relieved by taking the scheduled methadone).
The alprazolam (Xanax) is generally used for anxiety, but may be used for sleep or other conditions. All of the previously mentioned medications can slow the central nervous system. In combination, they may cause significant drowsiness and fatigue. In higher doses, they can cause decreased blood pressure and heart rate and can cause breathing to become slowed or even stopped.
Duloxetine (Cymbalta) has several indications, and may be used to treat depression and certain types of nerve pain. The dexamphetamine salts (Adderall) are a stimulant which is generally used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder but may be used to treat sleepiness and fatigue. This medication may also be used to treat alertness and improve processing speed after a brain injury.
