Two Granulomas Found in Lungs02/03/2011 |
I had a 5 mm granuloma and a 2.5 mm granuloma found in right lung! my mother had a 5mm one in her lung and 2 out 3 pulmonologists told her to wait and watch it! years later it had turned malignant! Would it be wise to have this taken care of now! My occupation of a first responder requires me to clean up hazardous material spills and work in a dusty environment!
95% of nodules that size are benign. Also, it is almost impossible to remove a 5mm nodule because they are too small to find during surgery. The usual recommendation is to follow these small nodules. A small few will be malignant and grow; however, if they are followed closely, they are still removed at an early stage. About 50% of people in certain areas of the country, especially Ohio, have these small nodules.
