Neck Discomfort and Research Studies

09/02/2008

Question:

I have been experiencing progressively discomfort in clicks in my neck–favoring the right side–and difficulty in turning my neck to the right. Do you have a research study related to this? I would like to receive surgery from someone who specializes in this type of problem. Please advise.

Answer:

We do not have a research study, but routinely see people with neck pain and clicks. The clicks could be coming from several places including you voice box, your jaw, or ligaments in the neck. It could also be a problem with your spine, but I think that is less likely. You would need to see an ENT to determine where the click is coming from. I, or anyone in the practice, has had experience in this and would be happy to help.
