Occasional colored flashing in eyes06/03/2011 |
My mom is 82 yrs old. She had cataract surgery done in 2007. Dec 2008 She was diagonised with ocular Myasthnia gravis localized to left eye. Since last year she is experiencing colorful flashes(she calls it rainbow flashes) in her eyes. Due to her age she is not able to pin point whether it is rt eye or left eye. Could this flashing related to her MG? Please advise.
An interesting question, but one that I cannot diagnose without examining her.
MG causes muscle weakness, which typically affects the eye with either double vision or a droopy eyelid. Her symptom of "colorful flashes" is more likely caused by a retinal or vitreous problem inside her eye.
She should see her eye doctor for a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan.
