Clotrimazole Cream for Skin or Vagina?

Question:

Dear Phamarcist, Usually in the package insert of Clotrimazole, it is contra-indicated on mucous membrane, but I usually notice that the doctor prescribe application of clotrimazole cream for skin to use on the vulva or labia along with suppository. Can clotrimazole cream be used this way?

Answer:

Yes, clotrimazole cream can be applied to the labia and vulva.
