Toe Nail Fungus08/19/2011 |
Are there any home remedies for treating toenail fungus that actually work.
The short answer is, not completely. The fact is that even the prescription oral antifungal agents are not completely effective against this very persistent malady. There are treatments that you can use at home that might be able to control toenail fungus (onychomycosis) such as topical antifungal powders and creams available in pharmacies. These products MAY prevent the condition from getting any worse.
There are many home remedies that have been used that have antifungal properties such as tea tree oil and products with menthol, and while there is no evidence that they can cure onychomycosis, because of their antifungal properties they MAY help to control this condition.
