Question:

Why would a doctor give a patient amoxicillin knowing they are allergic to penicillin? My husband was sick went to our family doctor who is aware that he is allergic to penicillin. He prescribed him amoxicillin which he took unaware of the risk and broke out in hives. Why would the doctor do this and what steps should now be taken?
