Chest Pains

Question:

I have been having lower chest pains for a while feels like something pulling on my side.I am also having weakness night sweats,flu like symptoms.I have had hrct said I had trapped air when ex haling.I have had Ashma test clear,ct,x ray mri all clear heart checked also.My family dr want a open lung Biopsy.Would this tell me whats going on with my lungs.

Answer:

There are many causes of the symptoms that you describe.  It would be best to discuss these results with your family physician as well as with a lung doctor.  A lung biopsy is often the best way to determine the cause of lung symptoms, but the decision to have a lung biopsy depends on your overall health, the CT scan findings, pulmonary function tests, and other testing such as blood work.  Discussing these results with the health professionals who ordered the tests and interpreting the results based on your personal medical history will lead to the best decisions regarding your care.
