Newborn and Infant Care

Scabies

10/01/1998

Question:

if a 2 month old child has been exposed to scabies, is there any natural sort of remedy to try?, other than the typical creams?

Answer:

Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the itch mite. With symptoms usually appearing four weeks after contact with the itch mite. If your baby has been exposed to scabies YOU SHOULD CONSULT YOUR HELATH CARE PROVIDER. In a search of the literature I was unable to find any "natural remedy" for scabies. However, before using any type of "natural remedy" on an infant you should consult your health care provider since many of these remedies may include something that could cause a problem for an infant or child.
