Gastroparesis in a 12 year old girl

03/08/1999

Question:

My daughter is 12 years old and has been diagnosed with gastroparesis (slow emptying of her stomach). She has tried EES, Regland and now is on Propulsid, she still constantly has a stomach ache, is their anything else that can be done to give her relief?

Answer:

Abdominal pain is a major challenge to be treated especially in the school age population as it can be related to so many causes including physical and emotional stresses. Give her medication some time, try to focus on her positive qualities and good days and then speak to your doctor about additional evaluation, in terms of food allergies, or other medical problems. Good Luck!
