Didelphis uterus

03/28/1999

Question:

Where can I get information on a didelphis uterus?

Answer:

There is not much on the web about this condition except one link which I have included below.

In general, uterine didelphys is a duplication of both the cervix and the uterus. It is caused by failure of fusion between the right and left sides of the uterus and cervix during development.

Uterine didelphys can effect fertility and the course of a pregnancy but many women with this condition can have children. Your best option is to talk to both an infertility specialist (to discuss the effects of your situation on fertility) and a high risk obstetrician to discuss your care when pregnant.
