Numbness after mastectomy

04/09/1999

Question:

How long does the numbness last after mastectomy?

Answer:

You did not identify what type of mastectomy you have had. There is partial mastectomy, simple or total mastectomy or modified radical mastectomy. Each type of surgery has different degrees of numbness. Please write back and tell me which surgery you have had so I can answer your question correctly. Your surgeon will also discuss this problem with you according to the amount of tissue and /or muscle removed. I will look for more information from you as to when and what type of surgery you`ve had. Thank you for writing.
