Question:
I`m doing a project on the effects of smoking and dancer`s.I myself am a dancer and I do smoke and this information will be really helpful….I need to Know if smoking really does keep a dancer`s weight down and is it really worth it in the long run and also does smoking effect their performance?
Answer:
Although many smokers feel that smoking enhances athletic performance, I could find no scientific evidence for this. Chronic smoking of course impairs stamina because of decreased oxygenation of the blood. In terms of weight control, a study showed a less that 2 pound weight drop when smoking was initiated. Is this worth the markedly increased risk of lung disease, heart disease, and cancer?
