Breast milk a year after not breastfeeding (12/28/2006 01:57PM) |
| I still have milk that will leak from my breast if pressure is applied. The more the breasts are stimulated, the more the milk will be produced. It is unlikely that the piercing has anything to do with causing prolonged lactation, other than that if the milk ducts were pierced, whatever milk that is being produced is leaking from those sites instead of from the pores at the tips of the nipples. | |

Leakage? (10/17/2006 10:36AM) |
| My boyfriend, after stimulating my nipples, found leakage. It is possible to have periods while pregnant, but pregnancy usually makes the breasts tender and slightly larger. Leakage in early pregnancy is rare, and leakage prior to pregnancy is very rare, possibly abnormal. | |

Nipple discharge (12/10/1999 07:48AM) |
| A hormone in the brain called prolactin stimulates the breast to produce milk in the lactating woman. Other types of stimulation to the nipple, such as squeezing the nipple alot can also tell the brain to produce prolactin causing some fluid in the ducts. The ducts in the breast carry the milk or fluid to the nipple. | |

Question related to nipple discharge (05/01/2006 09:24AM) |
The breasts often become painful in response to the hormone changes that occur during the menstrual cycle. Regarding the nipple discharge you experienced: The breasts are glandular organs, so it is not unusual to have discharge from the nipples--especially if the discharge is from both nipples, it is clear, and occurred as a result of squeezing the nipple (you did not mention how the discharge occurred). There are many reasons for nipple discharge; most are not ... | |

Nipple discharge (01/07/2004 09:54AM) |
| Nipple discharge can be normal for women when the nipple is squeezed. Discharge is not normal when the discharge comes out without squeezing the nipple, or when the discharge is only from one nipple. There are several causes of nipple discharge such as cancer or non-cancer irritations or infection. | |

Nipple discharge (04/05/1999 04:14PM) |
| I remember years ago, while pregnant, having a dark greenish discharge from the nipple at times. Discharge from both nipples usually indicates multiple duct ectasia and is nearly always benign. However, your physician needs to know about the discharge because it is important to find out if the discharge is from one duct or several ducts. | |

Could it be cancer? (04/19/2006 05:04PM) |
| p> The breasts are glandular organs, so it is not unusual to have discharge from the nipples. It is not normal to have discharge from only one nipple, especially accompanied by the pain and itching you describe. However, nipple discharge (especially when it is clear) is associated with breast cancer only a small percentage of the time. | |

Nipple discharge (09/04/2008 03:41PM) |
| While having the mamogram a discharge from both nipples appeared and to the eye it looked clear but when the discharged was removed with a tissue it was green. However, I would recommend you see a breast surgeon to check for breast problems. Some surgeons would recommend an ultrasound test to look for abnormalities behind the nipples, some would send a sample of the discharge to the lab, and some might even order an MRI scan of the breasts. | |

Black discharge from breasts (03/27/2006 09:40AM) |
| I am 61 years old, and for about 2 years, I have had a black discharge from my breasts if the nipples are squeezed. Since it is equally in both breasts, I have not been too concerned, but since it is definitely black (not gray or greenish, which I guess indicates infection), I am wondering about it a bit. Sometimes black is really dark red and may represent bloody discharge. | |

Bleeding nipples (06/16/1997 09:47AM) |
| Bloody discharge from nipples can be associated with many different conditions. These conditions can range from inflammation in the ducts, reaction to drugs, dilatation of the mammary ducts(duct ectasia), noncancerous lesions in the nipples or within the breast, or cancerous tumors. The bloody discharge must be examined under the microscope(called cytological examination) for a diagnosis. |
