Swollen taste buds (06/15/2007 04:14PM)

What you are describing sounds like transient lingual papillitis (TLP), better known as "lie bumps" on the tongue. This condition is limited to the upper (dorsal) surface of the tongue, affecting some of the tiny bumps on the tongue known as the fungiform papillae. Fungiform papillae are the normal little bumps on the top of the tongue that people call "taste buds."

Warts on the tongue (08/03/2007 04:11PM)
I have read through all of the Q&A regarding bumps/lumps/warts on the tongue, but so far I have not found anything which describes my problem. Just recently I have noticed there is a patch of bumps which are flat and pink on the back of the tongue. More precise details such as the number of bumps in this patch, the size of the patch, the size of the bumps, their color relative to the rest of the tongue, and their surface texture would be helpful but not necessarily diagnostic.

Lymphoid aggregates (10/03/2007 01:51PM)
I read a question from someone else talking about having red bumps on the base of the tongue and I read up on what the doctor said he thought it was - lymphoid aggregates. I have red bumps on the base of my tongue, but they do not hurt, itch, or burn. Lymphoid aggregates of the tongue (also known as lingual tonsils) are usually found on both sides of the back edge of the tongue.

Small red bump (papilla) at the tip of tongue (01/28/2008 03:16PM)
This small red bump (papilla) at the tip of tongue gets irritated and a bit swollen when eating something hard (like cold cereal flakes or something hard to bite) when eating,it cuts into it and it bleeds. It also happens, when brushing teeth or just going over my teeth with tip of my tongue. Thank You

In this area, the little bump could be one of the normal fungiform papillae of the tongue.

Bumps and soreness on tongue (07/31/2008 09:33AM)
I have had some really bad stomach issues and acid reflux and I am wondering if the bumps on my tongue can be caused from that. On the front of the tongue there are no bumps but the tongue is really sore and burns when I eat and drink certain things but there are bumps on the back of my tongue.

The burning sensation of the front of your tongue probably represents burning mouth syndrome, and more can information can be found at the links below.

Tongue (08/31/2006 04:30PM)
I put blue food coloring on my tongue to get a better look and now i am petrified.

Raised bumps (papillae) on top and a crack (fissure) down the middle of your tongue may be normal.   The clumps of bumps on the back sides of your tongue may just be tongue (lingual) tonsils.

From bump to blister on my tongue (11/28/2007 01:18PM)
I recently felt a bump on the top of my tongue. That night it began to hurt; kind of like a burning sensation and every time I pressed my tongue up to the roof of my mouth the pain would go down for a bit. I`m at day 4 now and although there is no bump or pain, where the bump once was there is now a blister.
