Question about salty saliva (03/08/2007 03:59PM) |
| My saliva tastes like salt and alters the taste of food. This certainly could represent the taste component of a relatively common condition known as burning mouth syndrome. With a taste phantom, the nerves that transmit information about taste are sending signals back to the brain that something salty is in the mouth, when in fact, there is no salt in the mouth at all. | |

Severe pain on gums pulled tooth/root canal (02/01/2008 02:31PM) |
| Atypical facial pain is often a "neuropathic" (or "nerve dysfunction") type of pain. The Lyrica may be titrated up to effect and tramadol (aka Ultram) may help with breakthrough pain. If pain persists, you may benefit from seeing a pain medicine specialist. | |

Failed root canals? (07/02/2007 02:59PM) |
| I saw an oral surgeon who said I needed the apio, which I had in late February due to the failed root canal. During this time, my wife also developed two "pimples" over her root canals and in late March she had to have apio. The number of potential problems are very numerous and range from missed (untreated canals), under-prepared root canals, leaking restorations, cracked teeth, or even gum disease. | |

Another root canal? (01/03/2006 12:05PM) |
| About 4 years I had an infection in my tooth and had to have a root canal done on it. I have had so many issues with this tooth including the fact that it has a fake enamel (my tooth grew in with no enamel). If the root is fractured or the periodontal disease is severe - you may end up losing the tooth. | |

Returning infection (07/12/2005 09:44AM) |
| What causes a returning infection in the same place on the gum after you have had a root canal? In this case, the root canal may need to be redone or a special type of surgery may be required to remove the infection and the end of the root where the infection may be residing. A fractured root cannot usually be repaired and the tooth or the specific root may have to be removed. | |

Gum pains (04/10/2007 03:57PM) |
| For example, it started hurting 2 days ago and probably tomorrow, It would stop hurting. A thorough "new patient exam" should include full mouth X-rays and assessment of your teeth and supporting structures (periodontal probing and assessment). The schedule of procedures depends upon the dentist's assessment of your condition and may involve temporary repair of broken or decayed teeth prior to cleaning. | |

Sensitive gums after extraction and implants (12/01/2006 12:48PM) |
| Hello, I have been plagued with an inflamed/sore sensation on my gums around tooth #22 and #23. I had a sporting accident where the teeth were fractured above the gum line and a fracture of the bone where the teeth were. A: Most of the time, when there is inflammation present, it gets associated with the presence of bacteria alone or in conjunction with additional irritants that could harbor bacteria as well. Gingivitis/periodontitis are inflammatory reactions of ... |
