Natural menopause after surgical menopause (07/30/2007 02:11PM) |
| Is is possible to go through "natural menopause" at age 50 after going through surgical menopause when i was around 25. I had both ovaries removed after my hysterectomy when I was in my 20`s and obviously went through surgical menopause at that time. However, I`m beginning to have menopause symptoms at age 50. Is it possible to now go through natural menopause after going through surgical menopause at an earlier age? No, it is not possible to go through natural menopause after ... | |

Ovarian cancer risk (09/06/2006 10:20AM) |
| After menopause, the ovaries stop making estrogen which leads to the common symptoms of hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Your menopausal symptoms will be more abrupt if the ovaries are removed now rather than the gradual decline of menopause. The risk of reoperation because of something abnormal with the ovary that was left behind is about 2-3%. So the bottom line is are you willing to accept the risk of 2-3% of future surgery for a more natural transition into menopause and the ... | |

Menopause or Hidden Thyroid Condition? (10/31/1998 01:15PM) |
| Two years ago I developed a thyroid nodule; later received a suspicious biopsy report; used alternative methods; the nodule disappeared; had a sonogram - possible adenoma and cyst, however thyroid hormone levels remained normal; was experiencing menopause-like symptoms (I was 44 then). Thyroid levels are normal; FSH confirmation of menopause at 39. Endocrinologist wants to treat the symptoms (dry eyes, dry skin, weight gain, energy lack) with thyroid hormone, putting the thyroid at rest for ... | |

What is the average time women have symptoms? (01/04/2008 11:43AM) |
| DO WOMAN WHO HAVE SURGICAL MENOPAUSE GET THROUGH MENOPAUSE QUICKER. No one has compared the duration of symptoms of menopause with surgical versus natural menopause. It is commonly thought that surgical menopause may produce more immediately intense symptoms but whether they last longer than with natural menopause is unknown. | |

Menopause and depression without HRT (01/09/2006 03:44PM) |
| It can be found through the Reference Library on the NetWellness Homepage or through this links: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed Another good resource in the North American Menopause Society ("menopause.org") They have information on induced menopause (such as surgical menopause). Surgical Menopause (05/03/2004 08:22AM) |
| Menopause does not "last". The symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes or vaginal dryness, can "last" a variable amount of time for each woman. Hot flashes can be a sign that you are menopausal, but not all women have hot flushes. | |

How does menopause effect lupus (04/26/2000 11:23AM) |
| how does menopause effect lupus Flares or increase in lupus symptoms decrease after menopause. (Mok CC; Lau CS; Ho CT; Wong RW: Do flares of systemic lupus erythematosus decline after menopause? Scand J Rheumatol 1999; 28: 357-362) In contrast, menopausal women on estrogen replacement therapy seem to have a nearly three-fold increase in automimuune diseases such as lupus if the disease is active when estrogen therapy is begun. | |

| You will go through menopause whenever your body was intended to go through menopause. The normal age range for menopause is 41-55. Hormones abnormal (10/23/2007 03:50PM) |
| I had my hormones tested with the following results: Estradiol: 170 FSH: 34.6 LH: 29.1 My doctor says this is definetly not menopause. The problem with measuring hormone levels in the menopause transition is that they can change from day to day. Because of this confusing pattern, menopause has been defined as ONE YEAR of no menses. | |

Will I ever go through menopause? (02/26/2008 11:59AM) |
| I`ve read that if you haven`t gone through menopause by 55, your risk of breast cancer skyrockets. How can your risk of breast cancer increase BOTH by being postmenopausal and by NOT going through menopause by a certain age? The normal range of menopause is 41-55. The risk of breast cancer goes up with age, but the rate of increase slows down after menopause even though it is still going up. |
